"Pilot"

The series begins with Morgen talking to her father, King Uther. She offers him forgiveness for cheating on her mother and for sending her away for 15 years. King Uther dismisses Morgen and says he no longer has a daughter. Morgen swears he will pay. Next, King Uther and his new wife Igraine are at a party, and a mysterious young girl puts something into the King's food and he begins to die. Before King Uther dies, Merlin has the king sign a paper and makes a promise to go get someone. Suddenly, the girl transforms into Morgen, who killed her own father. Morgen promptly banishes Igraine, and invited her father's most powerful enemy, King Lot for an allegiance. Merlin goes to a small town and finds a young man named Arthur, who has no direction in life. He tells Arthur that he is of royal blood and is the new king. Arthur has trouble believing this but his adoptive parents tell him it is the truth. Merlin asks him to go with him and find his destiny, and Arthur agrees to find out answers about his past and brings his brother Kay along. Merlin, Arthur and Kay travel to an abandoned castle where Merlin tells them its called Camelot. The future site of Arthur's leadership. Arthur meets knights who have sworn allegiance to him. Back at the castle, Morgen hears of the 'new king' and believes it is impossible and that she is the rightful heir and decided to go see Arthur for herself. Arthur asks Merlin about his birth, Merlin tells him his father had an affair with a enemy's queen, and that it was him. The enemy's queen turns out to be Igraine who is at Camelot and tells Arthur she has always loves him from afar. Morgen along with King Lot show up at the castle, and tells everyone that she is the only legitimate heir. Merlin shows the letter that the king signed before his death, and Igraine says its true. Morgen offers Arthur a way out of this before anyone gets hurt. Arthur says that he is the King now and that he is not giving up his throne. Morgen promises war and death to Arthur and to anyone who stands in her way. The suddenly, Arthur's adoptive mother is dragged in and killed right in front of Arthur. The episode ends with Arthur screaming at Merlin 'why did you bring me here?'.
